The U.S.-based currency exchange and remittance network, Ripple, contributes $10 million to Mercy Corps, a non-profit humanitarian relief agency, to broaden financial inclusion and improve global economic empowerment.

In several nations, Mercy Corps will collaborate with RippleWorks to promote fintech solutions that include blockchain and digital assets.

Ripple said the $10 million would also be used to fund the launch of FinX, an effort by Mercy Corps and its arm of initiatives to build a financial infrastructure that does not marginalize those without conventional banking access.

Ripple also partnered with Mercy Corps’ venture arm to build pilots and invest in fintech start-ups in developing countries, including those in Latin America, according to the announcement.
