Cardano will be added to the University of Zurich’s latest Deep Dive Into Blockchain 2021 curriculum, and students will be able to learn about the UZH Blockchain Center modules. They will also learn about the blockchain platform for innovators and changemakers, which is expected to contribute to more positive global change. The course aims to teach students about a few aspects of blockchain technology, including their technical scope and the critical design theory, economics, and incentives behind blockchain-based systems and how these systems can interact with existing infrastructure in the real world.
The University of Zurich invited several talented guest lecturers, including members of the Tezos Foundation and IOST, to teach the course. Cardano‘s CEO will also be a guest lecturer. The move demonstrates how educational institutions are quickly adopting the blockchain space and emerging technologies because they see the long-term potential of providing students with relevant knowledge and expertise.
These blockchain courses are offered at a few major universities worldwide, including Cornell University, MIT, and Harvard University. This is yet another encouraging sign for Cardano’s ecosystem because it demonstrates that institutions are taking notice and see it as a serious contender on a larger scale than personal use alone.
Cardano is being taught in universities and schools means that it will gain even more legitimacy, and blockchain technology will find a center space in the world.
Cardano also revealed more information about Plutus, the native programming language used to create intelligent contracts following the new major upgrade Alonzo. In a blog post, IOHK stated that Cardano is preparing for the latest Plutus smart contract upgrade and that the smart contracts are made up of parts that run on-chain and functions that run off-chain on the user’s machine. It also stated that both parts are written in the Haskell programming language but are then compiled by Plutus, which provides the Cardano framework for smart contracts. Cardano, like Bitcoin, employs the UTXO model, in which the inputs are unspent outputs from previous transactions.
