Cardano deployed first smart contracts sample on the AlonzoBlue testnet and it maintained a part of its profits from the crash a week ago as we read more in our latest Cardano news.

At the time of writing, the fifth cryptocurrency by market cap traded at $1.50 with moderate losses on the weekly chart. ADA moved with general market sentiment and had no clear direction. However, the bullish case for Cardano revolts around the deployments of the smart contract capabilities and IOG as its developer which made huge progress. At the start of June, the company launched its first testnet for the platform’s Alonzo era AlonzoBlue. This particular phase in the Cardano development had the objective of stress testing the smart contract platform, Plutus:

“The first simple Plutus smart contract has this week been successfully run on the AlonzoBlue Cardano testnet.”

Cardano deployed the first smart contract on the AlonzoBlue testnet and Tim Harrison, the IOG Marketing Director and the head of delivery Nigel Hemsley dived into the first run of the smart contract. Hemsley said that the stake pool operators were successfully running the nodes and these community members were a key component to sort out the issues. Pioneers and IOG partners were running their own nodes and started with the first exercise. Alonzo’s testnet will have a few colors coded phases before it is completed.

Each will have a specific set of objectives and exercises to be completed by the IOG and the participant from the private to public phase. AlonzoBlue will check the basic network functionalities as the initial distribution of ADA to the SPOs with simple Plutus scripts and others. Poulopoulos added:

“We can actually talk to the Alonzo node. A Pioneer could create a very simple smart contract and pass it to the ledger. So, they can have their first smart contract written against our network.”

The simple smart contract that can be deployed on Cardano’s Alonzo Blue can have various different applications. The Delivery Lead of IOG said that although Alonzo is yet to run a fancy smart contract, it represents a major milestone for the platform. The stability of the AlonzoBleu is the priority and then IOG will move to AlonzoWhite and SPOs with others joining in. The IOG engineers will integrate bigger components for Plutus as Hemsley said. IOG also received a lot of feedback from the community. The developers expect to build confidence in the network and its components as the head of delivery said:

“Once they (pioneers and partners) can successfully prove they can submit, validate, and execute we will be ready for (Alonzo) White.”
